LIVE UPDATES FROM YORK HALL

Posted on 20 September 2014 in Press Releases
Promoter Frank Warren presents International Boxing from the York Hall, Bethnal Green, healdined tonight by 10- Round International contests between Bradley Skeete vs Leandro Mendes Pinto and Frank Buglioni vs Alexey Ribchev.

Argentine scavenger Marcos Maidana took the 'hungry fighter' tag a tad too literally last weekend when he seemingly munched the left glove of Floyd Mayweather in round eight of their BoxNation televised rematch from the MGM Grand, Las Vegas. Ironically, Mike Tyson was a famished looking ringside observer.

Without in anyway condoning 'Chino's' barbaric action, his frustration was understandable. May weather was on a completely different plane and led him a merry dance. No signs of recess from where I was sitting.
Frank Warren and all the staff at Queensberry Promotions send their sincere condolences to a dear friend in Mary Powell who sadly passed away last night and our thoughts are with her family.

Boxing – and London – have lost a remarkable lady in Mary Powell, former long-time secretary of the London Ex-Boxers' Association and Mayor of Islington. She died on September 17 – six days after her 90th birthday – having been in poor health for some time.
Irish great Steve Collins says he's looking for a big performance from his new charge Frank Buglioni this Saturday (20th September) at the York Hall, Bethnal Green.

Buglioni has his second comeback fight against Bulgarian Alexey Ribchev in a ten-round super-middleweight contest on the undercard of Bradley Skeete's WBA Intercontinental Welterweight title against Leandro Mendes Pinto, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky 437/HD 490, Virgin 546 and Talk Talk 525).
Another all-British blockbuster title fight has been added to the huge ExCeL card on Saturday 29th November that features Dereck Chisora v Tyson Fury and Billy Joe Saunders v Chris Eubank Jnr: The British and Commonwealth Super-Featherweight Championship showdown between Liam Walsh and Gary Sykes.

SKEETE TARGETS KO WIN

Posted on 17 September 2014 in Press Releases

Bradley Skeete aims to make it a hat-trick of KO wins when he faces Brazilian Leandro Mendes Pinto this Saturday (20th September) at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, live and exclusive on BoxNation.

The undefeated Penge welterweight defends his WBA Intercontinental title for the second time against Pinto, and is riding on two back-to-back stoppages.
Middleweight stars Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jnr. will clash in one of the biggest all-British showdowns in recent years promoter Frank Warren confirmed today.

The undefeated rivals have traded insults for the last few years and will now finally get to settle their differences in the ring when they face each other on the blockbuster card title 'Bad Blood', headlined by Dereck Chisora's rematch with Tyson Fury at the ExCeL London on the new rescheduled date of Saturday 29th November.
Floyd Mayweather Jnr, already acknowledged as the finest prize fighter of his generation, now craves to be acknowledged as 'TBE'; The Best Ever.

The 11 time world champion is fast closing in on Rocky Marciano's hallowed 49-0 winning streak, a feat that would add real credence to his boasts.
Ellesmere Port star Paul Butler will challenge IBF World Super-Flyweight Champion Zolani Tete on Saturday 25th October at the Liverpool Echo Arena (subject to IBF final approval).

Butler stepped up a division to bantamweight and beat IBF World Champion Stuart Hall on points in June to become the fastest ever Englishman to win a world title.

FRANK WARREN'S COLUMN

Posted on 05 September 2014 in Frank Warren's Column
Tomorrow night you can watch on BoxNation (Sky 437/HD 490, Virgin 546 and Talk Talk 525) one of the truly great nights in Ireland's rich boxing history, when Belfast darling Carl Frampton attempts to rip the IBF super-bantam title from Spain's Kiko Martinez at a sold out 16,000 capacity purpose built stadium beneath the shadow of the iconic Samson and Goliath cranes of the Harland and Wolff shipyard, in the city's Titanic quarter.

The 'Titanic Showdown' should provide the perfect kick-off for what promises to be an epic season for our sport.
