ADAMS WINS FIRST PRO FIGHT AND VOWS TO IMPROVE WITH EXPERIENCE

Nicola Adams Pro Debut

Double Olympic Champion Nicola Adams OBE made a dream start to her professional career with a comfortable points win over Argentina’s Virginia Noemi Carcamo at the Manchester Arena, live on BT Sport and BoxNation.

The 34-year-old, fighting at Flyweight, controlled the range and pace of the fight with her impressive footwork, punch variety and timing. Referee Steve Gray made her the winner with a deserved score of 40-36.

Carcamo was visibly hurt in both the second and fourth rounds, and did well to make it to the final bell. Adams, winner of the first women’s boxing gold medal at London 2012, was delighted to pick up a win on her debut and is already targeting a World Title.

Speaking after her debut Adams said: “I enjoyed every minute of it. I was a bit too eager to get the stoppage but she was tough. I’m training & learning new things all the time. As the fights progress you’ll see me get better & better.
