Nickname The Hutch Train

WILLY HUTCHINSON won European Junior and World Youth Amateur titles as a youngster – the first Scot to win a World amateur gold medal.

Hutchinson signed up with promoter Frank Warren in 2018 and in the same year joined Sheffield trainer Dominic Ingle at the world famous Wincobank gym that produced Naseem Hamed. He has now shifted his training base over to Spain.

Warren has often heaped praise on the prospect and is still backing him to live up to his potential despite an upset defeat in March.

Hutchinson was strongly tipped to win the vacant British and Commonwealth title against Lennox Clarke but his older and more experienced opponent stopped him in five rounds.

Hutchinson has rarely been threatened since turning professional in October 2017 when he stopped Attila Tibor Nagy inside a round.

Before the Clarke setback seven of his previous nine opponents failed to hear the final bell.

Hutchinson is developing in size and his power and his team are filled with confidence that the blip against Clarke will quickly be put behind him. He got back on the winning trail in June 2022 back at light heavyweight and recorded a third round stoppage over Karel Horejsek in Telford.

He followed this up with a seventh round stoppage victory over Luca Spadaccini at York Hall in November 2022.
